Maintenance work at the Troll field in Norway was extended, sending benchmark gas prices higher and adding to several other unplanned outages in the country, which is a major supplier of Europe, the bank said. However, gains were reversed amid demand concerns due to weak economic data.
Volatility is expected to remain amid various other competing forces, including an ongoing heat wave that could drive solar power generation higher while driving down output from hydropower plants and nuclear reactors, ANZ Bank said.
