Gold and silver prices today fell further in India, extending their recent decline. Subdued global prices and an appreciation in rupee’s value against the US dollar put pressure on domestic gold and silver prices.
“Silver along with gold has corrected from recent highs amid reduced safe-haven buying,” Kotak Securities said in a note. Profit-taking after recent sharply rally and outflows from ETFs have hurt silver prices, the brokerage added, saying: “Silver has lost its upward momentum amid correction in gold and lack of fresh ETF impetus.”
News that the U.S. and China agreed to work toward a fresh round of trade talks next month provided a boost to the U.S. and global stock markets, and a stronger-than-expected private-sector employment data also helped to ease worries about a slowdown in the economy, damaging the metal’s haven appeal.
