India reported 32 deaths in the last 24 hours, the most in a single day, as per the Health Ministry update as of 9 a.m. The death toll in India now stands at 109.
The total number of Covid-19 cases in India currently stand at 4,067 with 3,666 of them being active cases. Around 693 new cases were added in the last 24 hours. The total number of cured and discharged patients stood at 292.
The pandemic has now infected more than 1.3 million people worldwide with the death toll surpassing 69,000. Local media in the U.K. reported that Prime Minister Boris Johnson was taken to hospital after suffering from the virus for 10 days.
Positive Cases In Gujarat Rise To 144
Gujarat reported 16 new cases on Monday, taking the statewide tally to 144, according to a health department official, as reported by PTI.
Ten of the 16 new cases have a direct or indirect link to the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin last month.
Principal Secretary (Health) Jayanti Ravi said that so far 11 patients have died while 21 have been discharged after recovery.
Maharashtra Reports 33 New Cases
The number of Coronavirus cases in Maharashtra has risen to 781 with the addition of 33 new cases on Monday, PTI reported.
Among the new cases reported, 19 were from Pune City, 11 from Mumbai and one each from Satara, Ahmednagar and Vasai, according to a health ministry official.
The state so far has reported 45 deaths due to the pandemic.
