West Texas Intermediate crude stabilised at $53.53 a barrel after sliding 6.6 percent to the lowest since October 2017.
Aluminium ended 0.3 percent higher.
Gold fell 0.1 percent to $1,221.03 an ounce.
Zinc ended lower for the second day, down 1.88 percent
Lead halted a tow-day rally, down 2.1 percent.
Copper halted a five-day rally, down 1.2 percent.
Nickel ended lower for the second day, down 0.76 percent.
