India Coronavirus lockdown 2.0 live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun his speech to the nation on COVID-19 crisis in the country. PM Modi began with thanking the people of the country for showing a unanimous resolve in fighting the novel coronavirus pandemic. The Prime Minister in his last meeting with the state chief ministers on April 11 to take stock of the ongoing situation, gave a new mantra shifting focus from “Jaan hai toh Jahaan hai” (health is wealth) to “Jaan bhi, Jahaan bhi” (life and livelihood).

This would be PM Modi’s fourth address where he is likely to extend the lockdown duration by two weeks, i.e., April 30 but with some exceptions to kickstart some economic activities in a graded manner in the country. The reason for the likely extension of the lockdown duration till April 30 is to stem the further spread of COVID-19 which has infected over 9,000 people in India. The nationwide lockdown announced by PM Modi came into effect from March 25 which was an unprecedented decision to combat the novel coronavirus and is scheduled to end on Tuesday.

This tally includes, 8,988 active novel coronavirus cases, 339 deaths, 1,035 cured/discharged and 1 migrated. Amid the increasing cases of the deadly virus in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to address the nation at 10 am on Tuesday (April 14, 2020), the last day of the 21-day lockdown in the wake of novel coronavirus pandemic. PM Modi in address to the country is likely to announce lockdown 2.0.
