Residents in the Delhi-NCR region on Thursday morning felt strong tremors as an earthquake struck the area. A strong earthquake (magnitude 4.4) struck the Delhi-NCR region on Thursday, causing tremors that were felt across several parts of northern India. The quake shook buildings and prompted residents to rush outdoors, but there were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.

Earthquake Today: Tremors hit Delhi NCR (Magnitude 4.4)
The National Center for Seismology is yet to release detailed information about the epicenter and magnitude. However, the tremors were strong enough to be noticed in cities across Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Punjab.
The earthquake magnitude 4.4 struck at a depth of five kilometres at 5.36 am, the National Centre for Seismology tweeted. The official said a loud sound was heard when the earthquake hit Delhi-NCR and the tremors lasted for 35 seconds.
He said the Dhaula Kuan region has witnessed 420 shallow earthquakes and the national capital has remained safe from such incidents for the past several years.
The Delhi Police and the Delhi Fire Service did not receive any calls about untoward incidents during the earthquake.
A 4.4 magnitude earthquake was felt in Delhi and the surrounding areas of Noida and Gurugram on July 10. The epicenter of the quake was 3 km on the north east of Jhajjar district in Haryana at a depth of 10 km, the National Centre of Seismology said. The location is 51 km on the west of New Delhi.
The tremors were felt at 9:04 am in the national capital region on Thursday, including in Rohtak and Ghaziabad.
The quake briefly caused panic among the residents with Delhi Metro stopping briefly due to the impact. However, the metro services are running normally as of now.
Modi said in a post on X, “Tremors were felt in Delhi and nearby areas. Urging everyone to stay calm and follow safety precautions, staying alert for possible aftershocks. Authorities are keeping a close watch on the situation.”
