Australia's Trade Balance Jumps, Retail Sales Slow In December


The Australian Bureau of Statistics said on Thursday that in seasonally adjusted terms, the balance on goods and services was a surplus of AUD468m in December 2013, an increase of AUD385m (464%) on the surplus in November 2013. Exports jumped 4% while imports gained 2% in December.

The seasonally adjusted estimate rose 0.5% in December 2013. This follows a rise of 0.7% in November 2013 and a rise of 0.5% in October 2013.
